Last weekend I had the honor of delivering the keynote at the Rising Moms Caregiver Retreat and I left that room feeling incredibly inspired.
When you gather a room full of caregiving moms together, you quickly realize something powerful: these are women who carry more than most people ever see. The sleepless nights, the appointments, the advocating, the constant awareness of another person’s needs. It’s a life that requires strength in ways that are often invisible to the outside world.
As I looked out at that room, what I saw most was resilience.
Not the polished, picture-perfect kind. The real kind. The kind that shows up tired. The kind that sometimes doubts itself but keeps going anyway.
During my talk we covered many parts of the caregiving journey, but if there’s one takeaway I hope every mom carried home with her, it’s this –
You are doing better than you think you are.
Caregiving has a way of making us question ourselves. We replay moments we wish we had handled differently. We focus on where we think we fell short instead of everything we’re already doing right.
But what I see in parent caregivers is extraordinary love in action.
The way you advocate for your child.
The way you learn their needs—sometimes without a single word spoken.
The way you keep showing up, even on the hardest days.
Caregiving isn’t about perfection. It’s about persistence.
So, if you’re a parent caregiver reading this today, take a moment to give yourself credit for all the ways you show up every single day. The strength it takes to walk this journey is something many people will never fully understand.
Caregiving can feel isolating at times, but if last weekend reminded me of anything, it’s this: none of us are walking this journey alone.
Thank you, Rising Moms, for inviting me and for hosting a spectacular event!
